Hi! My names Ryan. I’m a filmmaker with an affinity for Post Production. I specialize in post-production, but I also pursue motion graphics and sound design. I’ve been doing all 3 since I was 12, and have loved every minute of it. I really enjoy creating and sculpting an experience for an audience, and I‘ve done my best to create a career out of doing just that.
One thing I pride myself on is the ability to fit into whatever artistic style a director needs. Trying to line up all the elements of a project to fit the mood, story, and the overall artistic direction is not only my favorite part of the process, but it’s also one of the most important jobs of the editor.
In 2008, I started an online free-running and Parkour clothing line called “JumpClothing”. I marketed my t-shirts to the semi-pros and enthusiasts alike. I even created some YouTube videos to go along with it. It was a great learning experience for a sixteen year old kid. In addition, during the high school years, I taught myself After Effects, Premiere, and Photoshop. I filmed everything that happened around me so that I could bring it home to put it together. Anytime a friend or acquaintance made a video, I was right there, ready to edit it.
After I graduated from high school in 2010, I enrolled in Columbia College Chicago’s film program, and packed my bags for what would be 6 years of learning and working in Chicago. My focus in film school was Post Production. I learned sound design, color correction and overall had the time and equipment to hone my craft. I became proficient in Final Cut Pro, Avid, and Pro Tools, among others. I worked on over six film shorts as well as a contributed to a graduate thesis and two practicum films.
After graduating in 2014, I took an internship at Magnanimous Media, and then landed my first position with Builtworlds, a media network focused on the building industry. There I was given the freedom to experiment, which was an incredible learning experience. During the year and a half at Builtworlds, I had the privilege to learn and contribute in a fast moving, creative environment.
In early 2017, I decided it was time to make the move to Los Angeles. I’m currently a freelance editor in central LA. I also compose music and create soundscapes for “This is Actually Happening”, a bi-weekly podcast with over 40,000 monthly listeners.
Hope to work with you soon!
